Chinedu Obasi added to injury list

The challenge ahead for Ralf Rangnick to win the Bundesliga took a difficult turn with the loss of Vedad Ibišević. The Bosnia and Herzegovina international filled the opposition nets with goals for the first half of the year but now is lost for the rest of the year and I believe considerably longer. With the search for a new striker continuing, the club received bad news with Chinedu Obasi suffering a muscle strain. While not the type of injury will see out for an extended period he is likely out for the Energie Cottbus opening match.
1899 Sport Director Jan Schindelmeiser is still looking into replacements. The likely top rated targets are Ermin Zec of HNK Šibenik, Marc Janko of Red Bull Salzburg, Milan Jovanović of Standard Liège and a late move on Nigerian international Peter Odemwingie of Lokomotiv Moscow.
